Thunder Moon

Poem by Donna O’Connell

Do I dare to rouse you
from the rumpled sheets,
to come and see the peony,
under the thunder moon?

She’s hiding on a slender stem.
Can we lift her heavy head,
and gaze at untouched folds of lace,
lighted by my blushing face?

Thunder Moon
Book of Poems, by Donna O’Connell
O'Connell juxtaposes the ordinary with the extraordinary, the spare with the lush. In these poems, simple holds hands with the intricate.
